I am part way through creating a business account, however when I enter the verification code to complete the account I have the following error.

Error code: BadRequest

Correlation id: [Moderator note: personal info removed]

I am unable to just create a new account as it says the email domain I created already exists and I need the domain for my business. I have tried clearing catch, private browser, different browser, clearing Microsoft data, restart device, waited a few days, forgot password, unable to log into account page, but nothing is working. Tried to find a number to call someone at microsoft but it it just ends the call and takes me to the help page which doesn't help! Essential my account is stuck halfway through the creating account process.

Thanks, however it does not give me the option to create a new account with the same email?

    Hi @Lucy

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for the extensive troubleshooting you have already carried out across browsers, sessions, and devices. From your description, you are midway through creating a Microsoft 365 business account and when you enter the verification code you receive the BadRequest error with correlation ID, while your custom domain is now marked as already in use so the setup cannot progress.

Moreover, you completed the first stage of sign up, so Microsoft has already reserved your initial tenant domain as yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com, which is why an address such as yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com is now held by the system.

When the first stage finishes, the service reserves the onmicrosoft.com namespace for your tenant. As a result, that initial domain cannot be reused to start a brand new signup with the same domain. Therefore, to proceed now, please create a new account using a different initial domain, for example yourcompany1.onmicrosoft.com. After you are back in the tenant, you can add and verify your own custom business domain as needed.

For other regions or the most up to date contact options, please use Microsoft’s official Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support directory and select your country.

Our primary role is to guide users toward the appropriate resources and support channels. I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If you have any updates regarding the issue, please feel free to share them with me.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. I look forward to continuing the conversation.
