To avoid being charged after the 30‑day Microsoft 365 trial and to see if a refund applies, the subscription must be managed from the Microsoft account used to sign up.
For a free trial of Microsoft 365 Family or other home plans:
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the trial.
- Under the Microsoft 365 subscription, check the status:
- If it shows Expires on and Paid with: None, no payment method is attached and no charge will occur; nothing more is required.
- If there is a Cancel link, select Cancel to stop the trial and prevent future charges.
- If there is a Turn on recurring billing link (and no Cancel link), recurring billing is already off and the trial will end on the Expires on date with no further charges.
For a paid Microsoft 365 subscription (not a trial) purchased directly from Microsoft:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the Microsoft account that purchased the subscription.
- Find the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
- On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the prompts to cancel.
- After cancellation, refund eligibility can be checked as described in the refund article. Not all cancellations result in a refund, and in some countries a prorated refund may apply.
If the subscription was purchased through Google Play, the Apple App Store, or a third‑party retailer (such as Amazon or Harvey Norman), cancellation and any refund must be requested directly from that store or retailer.
Payment card details stored with the subscription are managed through the same Microsoft account billing pages; once the subscription is canceled and any recurring billing is turned off, no further charges will be made to that card by that subscription.
