We have an app service with multiple custom domains, one of which contains an accented é character which is converted into %C3%A9 by AlwaysOn, which causes an error in the application.
Is there a way around this?
This is most likely a bug that would need to be reported to Microsoft. If you have an Azure support plan you could raise a ticket and bring it to their attention.

Thanks for brining this to our attention. We apologies for the inconvenience this issue may have cause. When did you start noticing this issue? Did you purchase the domain with an accented é character from Azure? Can you please share the full error message with us?
We are checking internally with the engineering to see what may be causing this error and get back to you.

Thanks for your patience. I was able to confirm with the engineering team that this is expected behavior. Hostnames with special characters and Punycode are not supported. I believe Ryan also mentioned the same thing in your post here.
