Sudden Failure of MS Exchange Password On iPhone

I've been using a couple of email accounts for years, both on my PC and on my phone. Suddenly, my phone is showing that my password is incorrect for my Exchange email account. I could still access my account from my PC with that password, but changed it (successfully) anyway. Then I tried entering that new password on my phone. Same result. Why did this happen, and how can i fix it?

    Hello JDFTM

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

According to your current description, it seems that the login to MS Exchange Password only fails on your iPhone, but works fine on the PC. right? Could you please confirm which ISP service provider of the current Exchange protocol belongs to? This helps me check for you if someone else has the same problem recently. Whether accounts with incorrect passwords only occurs in specific accounts? Or all account's password prompted that the password not correct?

In the meantime, here are some possible reasons for this issue, please try the following steps to troubleshoot:

    1. Check for updates to the Outlook app (Here my test version is 4.2248.3) or the phone's operating system. If either of these has recently been updated, it could be causing the issue with the password. Everything seems to be working fine with outlook mailboxes using the Exchange protocol on the test device
    2. Restart your phone. This can often resolve strange issues that may be caused by a glitch or a bug.
    3. Delete and re-add the email account on your phone. To do this, go to "Settings" > "Mail account" > Click the account with issue and delete the email account. Then, add the account back again using the correct password.
    4. Alternatively, if your account is @outlook.com/@hotmail.com/@msn.com, you can assist you with this issue by contacting Outlook Mobile Support. **** (Click here)

Feel free to post back here if any updates.

Thank you for the responses, both Kidd IP and Chandy. It turns out that while the iPhone did not accept my password in the (maddeningly recurring) pop-up that said the password was incorrect, it would accept it when I went to the Exchange account in the mail app within Settings. So it was clearly an iPhone problem, not an Exchange problem. Thank you again for your replies.

Did you try to sign on OWA (web version) through the phone by using same credential?

I can isolate the problem from account or devices\app
