After allowing a Windows update, my printer now only spits out blank paper and won't print.

Does this appear to happen only in Word or with other apps as well, when you try to print?

In Word, do you see the content of the document in the preview at File > Print?

Follow these steps in order, as the issue started after a Windows update and the printer now outputs only blank pages:

    1. Update or reinstall the printer driver via Windows
A Windows update can break or mismatch the printer driver.
      • Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices (or Devices) > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the printer, then choose Manage > Update driver and follow the on‑screen instructions.
      • Try printing again from Word.
    2. Install the latest driver from the printer manufacturer
If updating via Windows does not help:
      • Go to the printer manufacturer’s support website.
      • Search for the exact printer model.
      • Download a driver that matches the Windows version (for example, Windows 10 or Windows 11, 32‑bit or 64‑bit).
      • Install the driver, restart the PC, and test printing again.
    3. Remove and reinstall the printer
If the printer still misbehaves, fully reinstall it so Windows refreshes the driver and configuration:
      • Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Select the printer and choose Remove / Remove device.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Go back to Printers & scanners, select Add a printer or scanner, and let Windows detect and install the printer.
      • Once added, print a test page and then try printing from Word again.
    4. Run the Windows printer troubleshooter
      • Open the Get Help app and run the automated Printer troubleshooter using the Run the troubleshooter in Get Help link from the printer support article.
      • Let it diagnose and apply any suggested fixes, then test printing.

If the problem began immediately after a specific feature or security update and persists after driver reinstall and troubleshooting, check Windows Update again and install any subsequent fixes, as later updates can resolve printer issues introduced by earlier ones.
