    Thank you. In that case.

You can’t make someone an administrator on a Windows 11 device from the Microsoft website. The page you’re viewing confirms this clearly: changing a user’s Windows account type must be done on the device itself.

Does this article help you in any way?

A Windows MVP writes content on the above website, so it is safe. However, do watch out for the ads. It should translate into your Browser language automatically.

    Hi Allan,

Do you mean you want to make a Family Member, an organizer of the Family group?

In that case, you need to remove them at https://family.microsoft.com and re-add them as organizer. In case you cannot login, please try a Private Browser Window or another device.

From the website alone, administrator rights on a specific Windows device cannot be changed. Making a family member an administrator on a Windows 10/11 PC must be done from that PC’s local Settings under Accounts.

What can be done from the web:

    • At https://family.microsoft.com, family members can be added to the family group and child settings (screen time, content filters, activity reporting) can be managed, but this does not grant or change Windows local administrator rights on a device.

To change a child/family member to a standard user (or confirm they are not an administrator) once access to the device is restored:

    1. Open Settings on the Windows device.
    2. Go to Accounts.
    3. Open Other users (or Family & other users).
    4. Select the child’s account > Change account type.
    5. Choose Standard user and select OK.

If sign-in to the device is failing even with correct credentials, first troubleshoot the sign-in problem on that PC (for example, restart the device, try Safe Mode, or sign in with a different account) and then adjust account types locally.
