To restore an Epson scanner icon (shortcut) to the Windows 11 desktop, create a new desktop shortcut to the scanner software or to the scanner device, and then adjust its icon if desired.
- Verify the scanner is installed
- Select Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, or use this shortcut: Open Printers & scanners.
- Confirm the Epson device appears under Printers & scanners. If it is a multifunction device, select it, choose Manage, and check the drop-down for an entry prefixed with Scanner: to confirm Windows sees the scanner.
- Add a shortcut for the scanner software or device
Use one of these options: Option A – From the desktop context menu
- Right-click an empty area on the desktop.
- Select New > Shortcut.
- In the location box, browse to the Epson scan application (for example, the .exe installed by Epson) or enter the path, then select Next.
- Give the shortcut a name (for example, "Epson Scanner") and select Finish.
Option B – From Start menu apps
- Select Start, then All to show all installed applications.
- Find the Epson scanning application in the list.
- Drag the Epson scan app from Start and drop it onto the desktop to create a shortcut.
- (Optional) Change the shortcut’s icon
- Right-click the new desktop shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, select Change Icon.
- Choose an icon from the list or browse to an .ico file, then select OK, and OK again.
If the desktop appears empty or other icons are also missing, ensure icons are not hidden:
- Right-click an empty space on the desktop.
- Select View.
- Make sure Show desktop icons is checked.
