Not allowed to upgrade to Windows 11

Question

I have been labelled as using an illegal window 10!!. I AM NOT. Due to my computer malfunctioning I had to try and transfer data TO ANOTHER COMPUTER. with the help of a technician we got most of a poor version of 10 which improved with updates. I then tried to transfer windows 11 data over but was

blocked because was labelled illegal. My name and details should be in your

records as to what system I am running LEGALLY. Glen Townsend, ******@bigpond.com.au. Run the app, and if the PC is eligible for Windows 11, kindly follow the steps below:

I suggest doing an in-place upgrade, which will update the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.

Windows 11 upgrade eligibility and activation are handled automatically by Windows and cannot be fixed by searching for personal details like name, email, or date of birth.

To address the issues described, there are two separate points to check on the affected PC:

1. Check whether Windows is genuine and activated
   If Windows 10 is showing messages that it is “not genuine” or “illegal,” it usually means Windows is not properly activated. Genuine Windows must be activated and associated with a valid product key or digital license.
   • Open Settings → Update & Security → Activation (on Windows 10) and check the activation state.
   • If Windows is not activated, use the original product key (for example, from the Certificate of Authenticity label or purchase documentation) and activate it.
   • If activation still fails or there is suspicion that the key was compromised or counterfeit, follow the guidance in About Genuine Windows and, if needed, purchase a genuine license from Microsoft or a trusted retailer.
2. Check Windows 11 upgrade eligibility
   Even with a genuine, activated Windows 10, a PC can be blocked from upgrading to Windows 11 if it does not meet the minimum hardware requirements.
   • Use the PC Health Check app on the Windows 10 PC to see if it meets the minimum system requirements and is eligible for Windows 11.
   • Windows Update in Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update will also indicate if the device is eligible and offer the upgrade when it is ready.
   • If the PC does not meet the minimum requirements, Windows 10 can continue to be used and will be supported through October 14, 2025.

If Windows is genuine and activated but still shows as non-genuine or blocks upgrades incorrectly, direct assistance from Microsoft Support is required so that the activation and license status can be reviewed for that specific device.

Do not post product keys or personal identification data publicly. Any detailed account or license investigation must be done directly with Microsoft Support using secure channels.
