Use a new support entry point instead of the old live chat link, which is tied to the previous session and may no longer be valid after the restart.
For a Microsoft 365/Office issue on a personal device, there are two main ways to get back to a live agent:
- Use the Get Help app in Windows
- Open Start and search for Get Help, then open it.
- In the search box, briefly describe the issue.
- If the automated suggestions do not resolve the problem, select Contact support.
- Choose the affected product/service and follow the prompts.
- When asked for contact method, choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser. A new chat window will open and connect to an agent.
- Use Microsoft 365/Office support in the browser
- Go to the Office/Microsoft 365 support contact page via the Get Help app or from the Office support site.
- Sign in with the same account used for the original case.
- Select the relevant product (Microsoft 365/Office) and scenario.
- Choose Contact support and then select Chat with a support agent in your web browser or the callback option.
If the original case number is still open, mention it to the agent so the new chat can be associated with the existing case.
