bluetooth devices not found

I have been recently gifted an asus vivobook and I have tried connecting my bluetooth headphones via bluetooth but I cannot find the device on the bluetooth list, as I'm just able to see other devices like TVs and other "unknwn devices"

I am not a tech genius so I have no idea how to deal with it. I never had trouble connecting my headphones to any device.

And even if my headphones are connected, I don't know which "unkown device" they might be (and all of the unknown devices seem to be other computers and phones as I am asked to ad a pin number for confirmation)

    Dear Shani

Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand how confusing this can be, especially when your headphones work with other devices but don’t show up by name on your new Windows 11 PC, and the list contains multiple “Unknown device”. At this point, I recommend that you review and try the steps provided in the Independent Advisor’s answer on your thread. That reply typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario. To help narrow down, could you please share the details below?

    • ASUS VivoBook model (from Settings > System > About)
    • Headphones make/model (and whether they support multipoint / connecting to 2 devices)
    • When you press Add device > Bluetooth, do you see anything like “LE- (headphone name)” or only TVs/Unknown devices?
    • In Device Manager > Bluetooth, what is the adapter name (Intel/Realtek/Mediatek), and does it show any warning icon?

In the meantime, here are a few basic steps you can try:

    1. Fully “forget” the headphones and pairing
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices
    • Remove anything that looks related to the headphones (and any duplicates) > Remove device
    • Turn Bluetooth Off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it On again
    • Restart the PC and try Add device > Bluetooth again
    1. Make sure Bluetooth services are running (Windows-side)
    • Press Win + R, type: services.msc
    • Find and check Bluetooth Support Service and Device Association Service
    • Set Startup type to Automatic (if available) and click Restart for each service (or start it if stopped).
    1. Install Optional Updates
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates
    • Install any Bluetooth / Wireless / System driver updates listed
    • Restart, then try pairing again

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.

I hope these steps help your headphones show up by name and pair successfully in Windows 11. Wishing you a smooth experience getting your Bluetooth audio working as expected.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

If you are able to pair the headphones on other devices, but not on your Windows 11 computer, here's what you can try:

    1

Ensure the Headphones are in pairing mode.

The LED light blinks fast, indicating that the headphones are in pairing mode.

    2

    Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter.

    • Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • locate Bluetooth in the lists, and click Run.
    • Once completed, restart your computer and try pairing your headphones.

    3

    Reinstall the Bluetooth adapter.

    • Go to Device Manager.
    • Expand the arrow next to Bluetooth.
    • Right-click your generic Bluetooth driver (Intel (R) or Realtek), select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver software for this device check box, and then uninstall.
    • Once uninstalled, restart your computer and see if you can pair your headphones.

If you are still having issues, let us know the make and model of your headphones in the next reply.
