Hello Sir/Mdm,

Last 2 months my one drive subscription has ended and Microsoft automatically deleted all my documents to recycle bin. Today I just renew the subscription and I want to restore back my file but all the file missing. Can you help me to find back my document as it is very important.

    Hello,

Your files shouldn't be deleted permanently just with a 2month gap, according to Microsoft, it is 6 months: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/my-onedrive-says-it-s-full-f0a8a922-d971-497e-b0c6-7b9a47c617c0

When you go to www.onedrive.com, double check the user icon on the upper right, and make sure you are signing in using the correct Microsoft account.

If so, and your files are still missing, I would suggest that you dispute this with Microsoft support, because it shouldn't happen according to their instruction which I shared above. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

For a personal OneDrive account, deleted items are only retained for a limited time and then permanently removed.

Key points from the retention rules:

    1. For personal Microsoft accounts, items in the OneDrive recycle bin are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after they are put there.
    2. Personal accounts that have been inactive for two years may have been deleted entirely.
    3. Once items are removed from the OneDrive recycle bin after that retention period, there is no native Microsoft method to recover them.

    Based on this behavior:

    • If the subscription ended 2 months ago and the files were moved to the recycle bin at that time, they would normally be permanently deleted after 30 days.
    • Renewing the subscription later does not bring back content that has already been permanently removed from the recycle bin.

Steps that can still be checked:

    1. Sign in to the OneDrive website and check the Recycle bin on the left side. If any items are still there, select them and choose Restore.
    2. Confirm that the correct Microsoft account is being used (if there might be more than one account).
    3. Check the local device’s Recycle Bin/Trash and local folders (Documents, Desktop, etc.) in case some files were stored outside OneDrive or not synced.

If the files are not present in the OneDrive recycle bin or in any local backups, Microsoft support and documentation indicate there is no further recovery option for personal OneDrive beyond these steps.
