The pop in side screen of data.world complement appears continuously. I have tried everything to erase but it is impossible. It is like a leech. It would be a nice idea to have someway to delete it.

Thanks for your help

    Hello @MIGUEL ANGEL BRAGADO PEREZ

    Welcome to Q&A forum!

I agree this pop‑up is frustrating, and I’d like to provide some context along with a couple of clear solutions based on what you need. Hopefully, we can work through this together quickly.

    What the pop‑up is:

The window you’re seeing is the "Office Add‑in consent" prompt for “data.world — Datasets and Insights.” It appears when the add‑in has been activated or embedded in the workbook you opened, and it requires you to grant permissions before it can run.

1/ If you do not plan to use the add‑in (recommended to stop the pop‑up)

Remove/disable the add‑in so it no longer loads:

    • Open Excel (any workbook).
    • Go to File -> Options -> Add‑ins.
    • At the bottom, next to Manage, choose COM Add‑ins or Excel Add‑ins (wherever data.world appears), then click Go.
    • Find any entry related to data.world.
    • Uncheck it to disable, or
    • Select it and choose "Remove"
    • Click OK, then close all Excel windows and reopen Excel.

2/ If you want to use the data.world add‑in

    • You need to click Accept on the pop‑up.
    • The add‑in requires permission to read/edit your Excel file and connect to data.world to import datasets or publish insights.
    • After accepting, the add‑in will work normally in Excel.

    For your information:

Data.world – Datasets and Insights is a Microsoft Excel add-in created by data.world, inc. It connects Excel directly to the data.world platform, which is a collaborative online environment for working with datasets and analytical insights. You can learn more about it here if it's necessary for your work.

The data.world pane is an Office add-in notification. To stop it from appearing, disable or remove the add-in from Excel so it no longer loads with workbooks.

Use these steps in Excel on Windows:

    1. Open Excel with any workbook.
    2. Select File > Options.
    3. In the left pane, select Add-ins.
    4. At the bottom, in the Manage drop-down list, choose COM Add-ins (or Excel Add-ins, if that is where data.world is listed), and select Go.
    5. In the list of add-ins, look for any entry related to data.world or the unwanted complement.
    6. Clear the checkbox to disable it, or select it and choose Remove if available.
    7. Select OK, then close all Excel windows and reopen Excel.

If the pane still appears only for a specific workbook, it may be embedded as an Office add-in in that file:

    1. Open the affected workbook.
    2. Go to the Insert tab.
    3. Select My Add-ins (or Office Add-ins).
    4. In the list, locate the data.world add-in.
    5. Select the three dots (or right-click) and choose Remove from this document.
    6. Save the workbook.

After these steps, the data.world complement should no longer pop up automatically.
