    Hi, Fiona Wales

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

Sorry for this unwanted experience that you're having. This crash happens before Outlook even opens, macOS’s loader (dyld) is aborting because Outlook is expecting a function that isn’t present in its bundled CocoaUI.framework, which usually points to a mismatched or partially-updated Office install.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Run Microsoft AutoUpdate and install every pending Office update, then reboot. Getting all apps onto the same build usually fixes “symbol missing” crashes like this.

If you can’t update (or it still crashes), delete the Outlook app (or all Office apps) and reinstall from the App Store or the official Microsoft installer, then run AutoUpdate again. This replaces any mixed or corrupted framework files.

Clear Office’s local caches/preferences: quit Office apps, then remove ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office and ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.* (backup the Group Containers folder first if you have local-only mail). Corrupt local config can keep the bad state around.

Run Disk Utility > First Aid, and also install the latest macOS 26.x update available. This can repair disk-level issues and improve compatibility on newer macOS builds.

Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.

Since this is a public forum, we will hide your personal identifiable information, and I have sent that image of yours containing your personal identifiable information in a private message so we can work together to resolve the issue.
