I don’t know my email address, or the password

I need help recovering my account!

I have:

• City / country where I made the account
• A Minecraft gamertag connected to the email
• Im logged onto Minecraft (with that gamertag)

I DO NOT have:

• password
• The email address
• a recovery email / phone number
• an actual Xbox (I play Minecraft on iPad)
• im NOT logged onto the email anywhere

Also I don’t know what the tags / parent/ child thing are meant to do… does it matter? (when I was writing this question)

If you don't have the password, don't know the email address, and don't have a recovery email or phone number set up, the only remaining option is to go through official Microsoft account recovery.

Since Minecraft now uses Microsoft accounts (even on iPad), your gamertag is tied to a Microsoft account. Being logged into Minecraft helps, but it does not allow password or email recovery directly from the app.

Here's what you can do:

1. Check if Minecraft shows part of the email On iPad (in Minecraft):

• Tap Settings > Profile > Account

Sometimes it shows a partially hidden email. If you can see even part of it, that helps a lot. If you're unsure of the exact email, try all addresses you or your family might have used (e.g., old Gmail, Yahoo, school email, parent's account).

2. Use the Microsoft Account Recovery Form

• Go to: https://account.live.com/acsr

You'll need:

• The email address (try any possible ones if unsure)
• A contact email where Microsoft can reply

Provide as much detail as possible:

• Exact gamertag spelling
• Country/city where the account was created
• Approximate creation date
• Any purchases
• App Store purchase receipt for Minecraft (if available)

1. Check if any existing email is a Microsoft account
   • Go to https://account.microsoft.com and enter each email address that might have been used.
   • If the page shows a password prompt, that email is a Microsoft account.
   • If it says "We couldn't find an account with that username" or "That Microsoft account doesn't exist," that address is not a Microsoft account. In that case, verify spelling and domain (for example, .com vs .co.uk).
2. Look for receipts or messages from Microsoft
   • Open every email account in use and search for messages or receipts from Microsoft (for example, game purchases, subscriptions, Xbox, or Minecraft emails).
   • The address that received those messages is likely the Microsoft account username.
3. Use Xbox/Minecraft clues
   • On an Xbox console already signed in with the gamertag, follow the steps in the “Find your Microsoft email address walkthrough” referenced in the Xbox help article to see which Microsoft email is associated.
4. Use the Sign-in Helper tool
