Follow these steps in order and test PowerPoint after each step:

- Close PowerPoint and all other Office apps.
- Open Control Panel → Programs and Features.
- Find Microsoft Office (or Microsoft 365 Apps) in the list.

- Start PowerPoint in Safe Mode (check add‑ins)
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
powerpnt /safeand press Enter. - If PowerPoint opens, go to File → Options → Add‑Ins.
- At the bottom, in Manage, choose COM Add‑ins (or PowerPoint Add‑ins) → Go.
- Clear all checkboxes to disable add‑ins → OK.
- Close PowerPoint Safe Mode and start PowerPoint normally.
- If it works now, re‑enable add‑ins one by one to find the one causing the problem.
- Try opening and repairing the specific file
If the issue happens only with one presentation:
- Open PowerPoint.
- Select File → Open → Browse to the file.
- Click the file once, then use the arrow next to Open → choose Open and Repair.
- If the file opens, save it under a new name.
- Advanced: Clean startup (if PowerPoint still fails) If PowerPoint still will not work correctly after repair and Safe Mode, perform a clean startup to rule out conflicts with other software, following the System Configuration steps (msconfig) described for a “clean restart” and then test Office again.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, completely uninstall Office and then reinstall it, then test PowerPoint with a new blank presentation.
