excel will not work properly

Every time I open my excel existing documents or create new ones, Excel has a pop up box that says that Excel has run into an error and needs to repair. It ask if I would like it to repair now? when I put yes it never works. ????

If you haven't tried anything yet please start by:

First, please check if your Microsoft 365 is active or if your Office license is listed. You can do this by signing in at https://account.microsoft.com/services if the subscription is active or if your Office license is listed, try these steps:

Repair Office apps:

Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.
Find Microsoft 365 or Office in the list, select it, then choose Change > Quick Repair.
If that doesn’t help, run the repair again but select Online Repair instead.

Check for updates:

Open any Office app (if it opens even briefly), go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
Restart your device after repair and try opening the apps again.

Follow these steps in order until Excel works normally again.

Run an Online Repair of Office (full repair) This fixes corrupted Office components that Quick Repair cannot.

Windows 10/11 (Microsoft 365 Click-to-Run):

Close all Office apps (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Select Start > Settings.
Go to Apps > Apps & features.
Find Microsoft 365 (or Office) in the list and select it.
Select Modify.
In the repair window, choose Online Repair, then select Repair.
Let the repair complete (this can take 15–30 minutes) and restart the PC.
Open Excel and test opening/creating a workbook.

If using Control Panel instead:

Open Control Panel.
Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
Select Microsoft 365 > Change.
Choose Online Repair > Repair, then restart when finished.
Start Excel in Safe Mode and disable add-ins If the error still appears, an add-in may be causing it.
Press Windows key + R to open Run.
Type excel /safe and press Enter.
If Excel opens without the error, go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
At the bottom, in Manage, select COM Add-ins (or Excel Add-ins) and choose Go.
Clear all checkboxes to disable add-ins, then select OK.
Close Excel and open it normally.
If Excel now works, re-enable add-ins one at a time, closing and reopening Excel each time, until the problem add-in is found. Leave that add-in disabled.
Repair again if Safe Mode does not work If Excel does not start in Safe Mode or the error persists even with all add-ins disabled, repeat the Online Repair to ensure all Office components are fully reset.

If the problem still continues after a full Online Repair and disabling add-ins, a full uninstall of Office, removal of leftover Office folders and registry entries, and reinstall of Office may be required, as shown in the referenced Q&A, but this should be done carefully and only after backing up important data.
