Phone Link

Question

When I use Phone Link and respond to a group message, it sends the message to each individual separately. How do I change it to send it back to the group text? Thank you.

I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you expect a group reply to stay in the same conversation.

To clarify, Phone Link messaging only covers basic SMS/MMS functionality and does not include support for replying to SMS group threads as a group, and there’s currently no setting to change this behavior.

To raise this with Microsoft, you can submit feedback via Feedback Hub on Windows:

• Open Feedback Hub
• Go to Apps > Phone Link
• Describe that group replies are sent individually instead of to the group thread

Hopefully this helps clarify what’s going on, and adding feedback is the best way to help get this improved.

Phone Link does not currently support sending group messages. When a group message is received, Phone Link may show some of those messages inside individual conversations, and any reply sent from Phone Link goes only to the individual contact, not to the group.

This behavior cannot be changed in Phone Link. To reply to the group thread, the response must be sent from the phone’s native messaging app instead of from Phone Link.

To reduce confusion from group messages appearing in individual threads on the PC:

1. Open Phone Link on the PC.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Select Features.
4. Select Messages.
5. Turn off Show messages to group chats in individual conversations.

This prevents group messages from appearing in individual conversations, but group replies still need to be sent from the phone.
