Windows App sign in pop up on my MAC

I am trying to log in to the Windows App to access the @army.mil account.

I am a Mac user. Whenever I try to add my work account, the Windows app sign-in pop-up keeps showing up. I've removed all the keys related to Windows App and Microsoft, but no luck.

    Hi chang

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Forum!

I understand how frustrating this can be. On Mac, the Windows App (and other Microsoft apps) can get stuck in a sign‑in loop with work or government accounts when cached identity data becomes out of sync. Removing Keychain entries alone often doesn’t fully reset the authentication state.

    Here’s what usually resolves it:

    1. Fully quit all Microsoft apps (Windows App, Edge, Office apps, AutoUpdate).
    2. In Finder, go to Go > Go to Folder and remove these folders if present:
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.identity.universalstorage
      • ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.office
      • ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.WindowsApp
      • ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Edge
    1. Temporarily set Safari as the default browser in macOS settings.
    2. Restart the Mac.
    3. Open Safari, sign in successfully at login.microsoftonline.us with your account.
    4. Keep Safari open, then launch the Windows App and add your work account again.

If the sign‑in window still keeps looping after this, it’s likely due to tenant policies, such as device compliance or restrictions on unmanaged macOS devices. In that case, the next step would be to check with your IT/helpdesk to confirm whether macOS is supported for Windows App access or if Company Portal / device registration is required.

I know this is a lot of friction for something that should be straightforward, but hopefully the steps above help you get past the loop. If not, you’re very likely hitting an organizational policy limit rather than a problem on your Mac itself.
