Azure for Students Verification Issue – Email Already Used for Verification

Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am a student trying to activate the Azure for Students free account using my official college email ID

Earlier, I received a verification email from Microsoft regarding my Azure for Students registration. However, I was unable to complete the verification process in time, and the verification link expired before I could confirm it.

After that, when I attempted to sign in again or restart the process, I began encountering the following errors:

“This username may be incorrect. Make sure you typed it correctly.”

“You can't sign up with a work or school email.”

My college domain is successfully being used by other students to activate Azure for Students accounts. One of my friends from the same college has already received the free Azure student subscription using the same domain.

It appears that my previous verification attempt may not have been completed properly due to the expired link, or my student email ID may not be fully provisioned in Microsoft Azure Active Directory.

I kindly request you to please check the status of my student account, assist in re-initiating the verification process, and guide me on the necessary steps to successfully activate Azure for Students.

College Name: N.B.K.R. Institute of Science and Technology College Domain: [nbkrist.org] Student Email: [

Azure for Students sign-up and verification issues like this cannot be fixed from the client side and require direct support from Microsoft or the program’s support channel.

Based on similar academic/Azure sign-in and verification issues in the context, the next steps are:

    1. Confirm the Microsoft account being used
      • If there is an existing personal Microsoft account (for example, used for Xbox or Outlook), sign in to the Microsoft account portal and ensure the college email is correctly added as a sign-in alias:
        1. Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page.
        2. Sign in with the existing Microsoft account.
        3. On the ribbon, select Your info.
        4. Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
        5. Verify identity with the security code if prompted.
        6. Select Add email and add the college email address.
      • After this, retry Azure for Students sign-up using the same Microsoft account with the college email attached.
    2. If academic verification continues to fail
      • This can happen even when the school domain works for other students.
      • A similar case was resolved by using the option to verify in a different way on the academic verification page and carefully completing the requested information. When that alternative verification flow was used, the automated verification email worked and verification succeeded.
      • On the verification page, look for any link or button that offers an alternative verification method (for example, “verify in a different way”) and complete that flow with accurate information.
    3. If the tenant or account is blocked or in an unexpected state
      • In other Azure sign-in issues, users have resolved problems by starting from a clean browser session (for example, an InPrivate/Incognito window) and re-initiating sign-up from the official Azure sign-up page, then following the prompts to continue or upgrade an existing account if it is recognized.
      • If a message appears indicating the account or tenant is blocked or inactive, follow the on-screen guidance to reactivate or upgrade as required.
    4. If the problem persists
      • For account/identity, academic verification, or subscription provisioning issues that do not resolve with the above steps, the only supported path is to contact Microsoft support for credentials/learning and account issues and open a support request. They can check the status of the student verification and the Azure for Students subscription and advise whether manual verification or additional documentation is required.
