can't find battery icon

I have a two year old Dell Inspiron 16 laptop with Windows 11 that I just recently had to replace the battery on. Now the battery icon in my taskbar is no longer there and I can't find it in settings either. This is frustrating because I don't have any way to monitor my battery percentage.

    1

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Batteries section

For each device in that section:

    Right click and choose Disable

Wait a second or two, then right click and choose Enable

    Close Device Manager

Restart (not shut down) your laptop and check if the Battery icon is back on the taskbar and if your battery is charging correctly.

If that does not resolve the problem, start your laptop, then, as soon as you see the Dell logo, repeatedly press the F12 key.

On the resulting menu, select Diagnostics.

Run that full diagnostics test, does it find any problem with the battery or the power adapter.

Use these steps to restore and check the battery icon and status.

    1. Confirm the battery icon is enabled in the taskbar
      • Right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
      • Under System tray icons / Other system tray icons, make sure the Battery icon is allowed to appear in the system tray. On laptops and tablets, the battery icon is part of the Quick Settings area (network/volume/battery group) and should always be present when Windows detects a battery.
      • If the icon is hidden in the overflow area, select the hidden icons arrow in the system tray and drag the battery icon back to the visible area.
    2. Verify Windows detects the battery correctly (similar to Windows 10 steps)
      • Select Start > type device manager, then open Device Manager.
      • Expand Batteries.
      • Right-click the battery entry for the device and select Disable and confirm.
      • Wait a few seconds, then right-click it again and select Enable.
      • Restart the PC and check the taskbar again.
    3. Check battery status in other places Even if the icon is missing from the taskbar, Windows still shows battery information in several locations when the battery is detected:
      • Lock screen: a battery icon with power source and charge status appears.
      • Quick Settings: select the network/volume/battery area on the taskbar (or press Windows key + A) to see the battery icon and status.
      • Settings > System > Power & battery: shows overall battery percentage, charging vs. discharging, and estimated remaining time.

If the battery icon still does not appear anywhere after these checks, Windows might not be detecting the replacement battery correctly and hardware/service diagnostics from the device manufacturer would be required.
