Received Automated Callback, now I am on hold (?!?!?!?!?!)

I received the automated callback from Microsoft. Now, I am on hold. I have a couple of questions:

  1. How long should I expect to be on hold? I need to leave the house to pick up prescriptions.
  2. Why would I get a call back if there is no one available to offer me the support that I have requested.

My last statement is just a general comment. I have been in tears every day for the past four days, ever since I opened OneDrive on my old and new computer to facilitate moving data from one to the other. All of my files are empty. My external hard drive has been uploaded to OneDrive (what???). In addition, it appears that my files and photo locations have all been rewritten to a location on OneDrive. Where are my original location descriptors??? I am not able to move photographs to either of my computers as everything is now on OneDrive and will not download to my computers. This data, all of my files and photos, are mine, not Microsoft's, and I want them back on my devices.

They do not belong to this company and I strongly feel that my privacy has been violated. Yes, I have been on the internet for four days, on and off of Microsoft help information, trying to trouble shoot this by myself. Nothing has worked and my hard drive is now compromised. Thus the frustrated tears. Everyday. For four days. I feel completely defeated, exposed, and violated.

And, now, I am on hold. Is there anything else that Microsoft could do to make my experience worse? I wonder.

How long should I expect to be on hold?

With huge corporations like Microsoft or T-Mobile or Samsung or Bank of America, etc., it could be much more than an hour. I hope the music is good.

Why would I get a call back if there is no one available to offer me the support that I have requested.

More than a billion people use Microsoft products and Microsoft can only afford to hire so many people to answer the phone. There's no guarantee that the person who finally answers the phone (if you are so lucky) will know how to help you. That's why you are much better served to do your own research, which is much easier these days with AI. Telephone support is more for people who are helpless to try anything else.

    Hi Kathryn,

    Sorry, you are having problems.

I can't speak for phone support. Hopefully, someone has spoken to you by now.

If you want to stop additional files from syncing to OneDrive, you should turn off the folder backup. You can do that in the Manage Backup settings.

Back up your folders with OneDrive

I reject that automated answer that I received to my questions. My questions remain unanswered and I am still on hold.
