Let's check some additional information to help resolve the issue:

    1. What is the exact model of your device?

In the search bar, type MSINFO32 and hit Enter.

Please share a screenshot of that window.

    1. Press Windows + X and choose Device Manager.

Click View > Show Hidden devices

Expand 'Mice and other pointing devices' or 'Human Interface Devices'

Take a screenshot and share it here.

    1. Are you using Windows 10 or 11?

Touchpad issues on Windows are often caused by missing/old drivers or the touchpad being disabled at the OS level.

Try these steps using the external mouse:

    1. Check that Windows sees the touchpad
      1. Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
      2. Look under Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices for any touchpad/precision touchpad/ASUS pointing device.
      3. If found but disabled (down arrow icon), right-click it and select Enable device.
    2. Update the touchpad driver
      1. In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad device.
      2. Select Update driver.
      3. Choose Search automatically for drivers.
      4. If nothing updates, use Windows Update to pull newer drivers:
        • Open SettingsWindows UpdateCheck for updates and install any offered driver updates.
Details on updating touchpad drivers are in Fix touchpad problems in Windows.
    3. Reinstall the touchpad driver
      1. In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad device and select Uninstall device.
      2. Confirm (leave “Delete the driver software for this device” unchecked unless specifically instructed by ASUS support).
      3. Restart Windows so it reinstalls the driver automatically.
    4. If no touchpad device appears at all
      1. In Device Manager, select ActionScan for hardware changes.
      2. If still nothing, the correct ASUS touchpad driver may be missing. In that case, download and install the official touchpad/precision touchpad driver for the exact VivoBook model from the ASUS support site, then reboot.
    5. Verify touchpad settings in Windows
      1. Open SettingsBluetooth & devicesTouchpad (Windows 11) or SettingsDevicesTouchpad (Windows 10).
      2. Ensure the Touchpad toggle is On.

If the touchpad still does not show up in Device Manager after installing the ASUS driver, the hardware may be disabled at firmware level or faulty and would need ASUS support/service.
