Hello there! I came here because I've tried every option to install minecraft.

First of all I've tried installing it on xbox, microsoft store and their official launcher. Unfortunately I didn't managed to install it. I came here for an aditional reason and that is to report a "bug". Whenever I try to install minecraft either on xbox or microsoft the downloading gets stuck and on the official launcher says: "Please continue in the Microsoft Store. We are having trouble communicating with the Microsoft Store. Please open the store and continue the installation from there. Click here to open the Microsoft Store". Waiting doesn't help because on xbox it remains the same and on microsoft says that "windows update isn't enable" even if it is or "something went wrong" next to this error: 0X80073CF9. I've tried every step to fix it, from powershell or cmd to fresh reinstall windows, and yet nothing.
Thank you for your time and your help.

edit: now xbox doesn't even launch enymore

Follow these steps in order, focusing on Microsoft Store and Windows services, since the Minecraft launcher is redirecting there and error 0x80073CF9 is Store/installation related.

    1. Reset the Microsoft Store cache
      1. Press Windows key + R.
      2. Type wsreset.exe and select OK.
      3. A blank Command Prompt opens, closes after a few seconds, and Microsoft Store opens automatically.
      4. Try installing Minecraft again from Microsoft Store.
    2. Make sure Windows Update is fully working and up to date
      1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update (Windows 10) or Settings > Windows Update (Windows 11).
      2. Select Check for updates and install all available updates.
      3. Restart the PC after updates complete.
      4. Try the install again.
    3. Check time, region, and device authorization
      1. Verify time, date, and time zone are correct.
      2. Verify Region is set correctly in Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
      3. Make sure the device is signed in with the same Microsoft account used to purchase or claim Minecraft and that the PC is added/authorized for Store apps (see Manage your devices for Microsoft Store from the context articles).
    4. Run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter (Windows 10)
      1. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
      2. Select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.
      3. Apply any fixes it suggests.
    5. Repair/reset Microsoft Store and Minecraft apps
      1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features).
      2. Find Microsoft Store, open Advanced options, choose Repair; if that does not help, choose Reset.
      3. Do the same for the Xbox app and any Minecraft-related app entries if present.
      4. Restart the PC and try the installation again from Microsoft Store or the Xbox app.
    6. Reinstall from Library instead of search
      1. Open Microsoft Store.
      2. Select See more (⋯) > My Library.
      3. Under All owned, locate Minecraft and select Install from there.
    7. Check for Store app visibility and compatibility issues If Minecraft does not appear or the Install/Open button is disabled or missing, consider:
      • Region restrictions.
      • Microsoft family settings blocking the app.
      • Device limit (too many devices tied to the account).
      • Incompatibility with the current Windows version or device type.

If, after these steps, the Store still shows 0x80073CF9 or “Windows Update isn’t enabled” despite updates working, the issue is likely with the Store/Windows component store on this installation. In that case, use the official Minecraft launcher only after the Store issue is resolved, since the launcher depends on Store services for Game Pass / Microsoft Store entitlements.
