Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I’ve noticed that Microsoft Edge consistently uses more RAM than expected, especially when multiple tabs are open. For example, with 4–5 tabs, Edge’s memory usage often exceeds [insert approximate value, e.g., 1–2 GB], which impacts system performance and slows down other applications.
This issue makes multitasking difficult, even on devices with higher RAM capacity. Competing browsers seem to handle similar workloads with lower memory consumption.

I'm talking about the features available in Edge Settings > System and Performance > Performance. Before that, have you checked the processes under Microsoft Edge in Task Manager? Which processes are consuming the RAM? If possible, please post a screenshot of it.
Hi,
Have you checked which processes under Edge are consuming the memory? There are a few reasons why Microsoft Edge might be using more RAM than you’d expect. Extensions running in the background can add to it, and some enabled features can also increase memory usage. Having lots of open tabs, especially heavier websites, will naturally use more RAM too. Also, if Edge is your default browser, it may have more extensions and features enabled compared to other browsers installed, which can make those browsers seem like they’re using less RAM in comparison.
That said, you can open Task Manager and check the processes under Microsoft Edge to see what’s taking up the most memory. You can also go to Settings > System and Performance > Performance and enable the options available that could save you resources.
