Hi Sharon Johnson,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand that seeing the message “This email is part of a reserved domain” when adding an email address to your Microsoft account can be frustrating.
This message indicates that the email address you’re trying to use—especially Microsoft domains such as @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com—is no longer available to be added as an alias. Once an address under these domains has been removed or previously associated with a Microsoft account, it becomes marked as reserved and cannot be reused.
At this time, you can create a new @outlook.com alias:
- Sign in to your Microsoft account, select Add alias, and create a new @outlook.com email address. You can then set this new alias as your primary alias for Microsoft services.
- Please note that work or school email addresses cannot be added as aliases.
For official guidance, you can refer to this Microsoft Support article: Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com
