Unsuccessful sign-ins are still available, but how they appear depends on which account view is being used.

For a work or school account (Microsoft Entra) via My Account → My sign-ins:

    • Unsuccessful sign-ins are shown in the sign-in list alongside successful ones.
    • To focus on them, use the search box on the Review recent activity / My sign-ins page and type Unsuccessful to filter for all unsuccessful sign-in activity.
    • Each item can be expanded to see details such as location, app, and device.

    Steps:

    1. Go to My Account and sign in with the work or school account.
    2. Select My sign-ins (or Review recent activity).
    3. Use the search bar and type Unsuccessful to list unsuccessful attempts.

For a personal Microsoft account (Outlook.com, Xbox, etc.):

    • Use the Recent activity page. It shows significant sign-in events (successful and unusual attempts), but not every single attempt.
    • If something looks suspicious, select Secure your account from the Recent activity section.

    Steps:

    1. Go to the Security basics page and sign in.
    2. Select Review activity to open the Recent activity page.
    3. Review the entries under Recent activity and Unusual activity; expand items for details and choose This wasn’t me or Secure your account when appropriate.

If unsuccessful attempts are not visible, it is likely because:

    • The view is filtered (for work/school accounts, clear filters or search for Unsuccessful).
    • For personal accounts, only security-relevant events are shown, not every failed password attempt.
