Teams, Support Assistant, Billing - all not working

There might be more things, these are just the ones I've discovered so far. I have tried signing out and signing in again, checked for updates, looked at the service health and nothing makes a difference.

Teams just says, 'We're sorry, we've run into an issue.' Support assistant says 'Chat authentication has failed. AUTH SETUP ERROR'. Anything on billing says 'Something failed on our end. Try again later.'

I have been trying since the weekend and it is so frustrating - Help!

    Dear Helen Key,

Thank you for posting your question on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

From my understanding, you are experiencing issues with Microsoft Teams and the billing section, and when trying to get help through the Support Assistant, you receive errors or are unable to proceed.

If the Support Assistant option appears automatically, please turn it off. Once disabled, a new field should appear, allowing you to manually describe your issue. From there, you should be able to submit the request and connect directly with the Microsoft Support team for further assistance.

Alternatively, you can raise a support ticket directly from https://admin.microsoft.com/#/support/requests

I hope the information above is helpful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out.

Because multiple Microsoft 365 services (Teams, Support Assistant, billing) are all failing with generic errors and you already checked for updates, signed out/in, and verified service health, this points to a broader authentication or connectivity issue rather than a single app problem.

Use the following steps to narrow and resolve it:

    1. Verify sign-in and error codes
    • Try signing in to Teams desktop and web.
    • If Teams shows an error code in the lower-left corner of the sign-in or main window, note it. Then:
      • If it is listed in the Teams sign-in article, follow the specific guidance. For example:
        • 0xCAA82EE7 or 0xCAA82EE2: Check internet access and run the Network assessment tool to verify that required Microsoft 365 URLs and ports are reachable.
        • 0xCAA70004 or 0xCAA70007: Follow the guidance for connection issues after Office updates.
      • If the code is not listed, use the generic Teams sign-in troubleshooting and contact the admin with the code.
    1. Check network and browser settings Because billing and Support Assistant are web-based, browser or network restrictions can cause “Something failed on our end” and “Chat authentication has failed” messages.
    • In Google Chrome:
      1. Go to Settings → Site settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and site data.
      2. Select Allow all cookies and ensure Block third-party cookies is not selected.
      3. Under Sites that can always use cookies, add:
        • microsoft.com
        • microsoftonline.com
        • https://www.microsoft365.com/launch/Clipchamp/
    • In Safari (macOS or iOS):
      • Disable Prevent cross-site tracking in Privacy settings.
    • If using a corporate network or VPN, work with the IT admin to ensure Microsoft 365 URLs and IP ranges are allowed, as blocking them can break Teams, billing, and support experiences.
    1. Update and repair Teams specifically
    • In Teams desktop, open Settings and more (…) → Check for updates and let it complete.
    • If sign-in errors persist only in Teams:
      1. Uninstall Teams.
      2. Delete the %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams folder.
      3. Download and reinstall Teams, preferably by right‑clicking the installer and choosing Run as administrator.
    1. If Teams web is also affected
    • If the issue appears only in the Teams web client (e.g., stuck in a login loop), follow browser-specific sign-in loop resolutions as described in the Teams sign-in troubleshooting article.
    1. If nothing changes across the tenant Since this is a business subscription and multiple workloads are impacted, the problem may be tenant-side authentication or configuration.
    • Ask the Microsoft 365 tenant admin to:
      • Run the Teams sign-in diagnostic from the admin portal.
      • If diagnostics and manual steps do not resolve it, open a support request from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, attaching Teams debug logs and any error codes shown.

If the tenant admin cannot open a ticket because of the same issues, they can use the regional Microsoft customer service phone number to have frontline support create a service request on their behalf.
