I have in the past subscribed to Azure Ai language translator and managed to create a project and successfully had it translated via Azure AI, but now I can't create a new project in Trados using Azure

Foundry Tools
Foundry Tools

Formerly known as Azure AI Services or Azure Cognitive Services is a unified collection of prebuilt AI capabilities within the Microsoft Foundry platform

    Younis Hammali hi,

yeah this is almost never Trados itself, its Azure side changed, if it worked before and now doesnt then check ur Translator resource bc most common issues are expired subscription or no credits, resource deleted or moved, API key or endpoint changed, region mismatch, or access to Azure AI Language no longer enabled, Trados needs exact endpoint + key + region so just grab fresh values from Azure portal and reconfigure, also if u switched to new Foundry stuff Trados might not support it and still expects classic Translator resource,

sooo.... Azure config/key changed not Trados.

    rgds,

    Alex

&pls if it helps accept my answer

    Hi Younis Hammali,

Thanks for explaining the issue clearly. Based on how Trados connects with Azure Translator, here are a few things you can check that usually help in this situation.

First, please confirm that your Azure Translator resource is still active. Go to the Azure portal and open your Translator resource under Azure AI services. Make sure the resource status is active and not disabled or deleted. If the subscription or resource was stopped, Trados will not be able to create a new project even if it worked earlier.

Next, check whether you are using the correct endpoint and key in Trados. Sometimes the key gets regenerated or expires. In the Azure portal, open the Translator resource, go to Keys and Endpoint, and copy Key 1 or Key 2 again. Update the same key and endpoint in Trados and try creating the project once more. This refresh usually fixes authentication related issues.

Also, please verify the region of your Translator resource. Trados requires the region value to match exactly with the Azure Translator resource region. You can find the region on the Overview page of the Translator resource in Azure. If the region entered in Trados is different, the project creation can fail silently.

Another important point is the pricing tier. If the Translator resource is on a free or trial tier and the quota has been fully used, Trados may not allow new projects. You can check usage and quota from the Azure portal under the Metrics or Usage section of the Translator resource.

If you are using Azure Translator through AI Foundry tools, make sure the service is not limited by workspace or access changes. Sometimes newer Foundry updates require re‑linking or re‑authorizing the resource before it can be reused in external tools like Trados.

For reference, these official documents explain how Azure Translator works and what is required for authentication and usage: Azure Translator overview https://learn.microsoft.com/azure/ai-services/translator/translator-overview

Authentication and keys for Azure Translator https://learn.microsoft.com/azure/ai-services/translator/reference/v3-0-reference

If the issue continues after checking the points above, please share what error message Trados shows while creating the project. That will help narrow down whether this is a key, region, or quota related issue.

    Thankyou!
