Broken 2FA authentication

I'm locked out of my Mcrosoft 365 tenant, when I log in, I'm presented with the 2FA authentication for either MS or Google Authenticator but both have stopped working, i.e nothing is sent to the mobile apps. On MS authenticator, when I open the entry for my account, under ways to sign in or verify, I see the txt

This account is used to sign in to other apps on this device

I've had MS Support working on it for days! I assume it just needs the 2FA on the user account in the the tenant re-set but I'm going round in circles with them
