The name on the Microsoft Certification exam registration must exactly match the name on the government-issued ID used during check-in. To fix the mismatch for the MD-102 exam, update the legal name in the Microsoft Certification profile, then work with Pearson VUE if needed.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Update the name in the Microsoft Certification profile
      • Go to the certification profile and ensure the first and last name match the government ID exactly (including spelling, order, and any middle names/initials if present on the ID).
      • Use the guidance in Manage your certification profile (linked from the FAQ) to change the legal name if required.
      • The FAQ explicitly points to this for legal name changes: “How do I change my legal name on my Microsoft Certification profile? Visit: Manage your certification profile.”
    2. Confirm ID requirements
      • Make sure the ID is valid, unexpired, and government-issued, with name, photo, and signature.
      • The name on the ID must exactly match the name in the certification profile and the exam registration.
      • See the Pearson VUE ID Policy and the “About online exams with Pearson VUE” page for acceptable ID types and rules.
    3. Reschedule and retake the exam check-in
      • After updating the certification profile name, sign in to Pearson VUE and confirm that the exam appointment shows the corrected name.
      • If the name still appears incorrectly in the booking, contact Pearson VUE support before exam time so they can align the registration with the updated profile.
    4. If the name cannot be updated or remains incorrect
      • Use Microsoft Certification support to request help with correcting the legal name on the certification profile and resolving exam registration issues: Help is available at the certification support page referenced in the Q&A.

Because proctors must enforce strict ID and security policies, the exam will continue to be blocked until the name in the Microsoft Certification profile and Pearson VUE registration matches the government ID exactly.
