Hello, good day and thanks for your question. To add to the above, if you just made this purchase, please check and wait within a 24 hours period and try it again and you can also use an alternative browser or use inPrivate or Incognito browsing mode and ensure that there is no typo on the code that you have. If you still encounter an issue, you can check or go back to Costco to report this to them as this is a third party and you can see the link below as a reference.

Because the new PC only includes a trial of Microsoft 365, the “product key deactivated” message usually means the preinstalled trial or key can’t be used as a full paid license.

    Take these steps:

    1. Open any Microsoft 365 app (for example, Word) on the new PC.
    2. If a yellow or red banner appears saying most features are disabled or prompting for a key, do one of the following:
      • Start the included Microsoft 365 Family trial from the Let’s get started screen, or
      • Sign in with a Microsoft account that already has an active Microsoft 365 subscription, or
      • Purchase Microsoft 365 when prompted.
    3. If the key card from Costco itself shows as deactivated or invalid when redeemed at Office.com/setup, contact the seller (Costco) to request a replacement or refund, because blocked or non-working keys must be resolved by the retailer.
    4. If the key was damaged but there is valid proof of purchase, contact Microsoft support for help with replacement options via the Microsoft support page.

If the goal is only to keep using Office without paying, choose Use free at Office.com on the banner to use the web versions instead of the desktop apps.
