KB5077181 is a Windows Update. Some updates cannot be removed once installed, which matches the behavior described when uninstall fails and the update remains after System Restore.

To address mouse and keyboard freezes and manage the update:

    1. Check and update device drivers
      • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates to ensure all drivers delivered via Windows Update are current.
      • If the problem continues, update critical drivers (especially for mouse, keyboard, video, and any USB controllers) from the PC or motherboard manufacturer’s support site. Older or incompatible drivers can cause freezes after an update.
      • For laptops, also install any system or firmware updates from the manufacturer.
    2. Power-cycle the PC fully
      • Shut down the PC completely.
      • Turn off power at the PSU switch or unplug the power cable.
      • Wait at least 10 minutes, then reconnect power and start the PC.
      • This deep power cycle has resolved Bluetooth/mouse/keyboard issues for some users after recent updates.
    3. Verify basic mouse and keyboard hardware
      • Unplug the mouse and keyboard, wait a short time, then plug them back in.
      • Try different USB ports (preferably directly on the PC, not through a hub).
      • If using a wireless mouse, reseat or reset the USB receiver and check batteries.
    4. If the update must be removed
      • On Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates.
      • Select KB5077181 if it appears and choose Uninstall.
      • If KB5077181 does not appear here or the Uninstall option is unavailable, that update cannot be removed.
    5. If instability continues
      • If freezes persist even after driver updates and power-cycling, consider a repair approach such as “Reset this PC” while keeping files, which reinstalls Windows but keeps personal data. This is typically used when system behavior remains unstable after updates and driver fixes.

Because not all updates can be uninstalled, the most reliable long-term fix is to ensure all device and system firmware drivers are fully updated and to perform a full power cycle so USB, Bluetooth, and input devices reinitialize correctly under the updated OS.
