I understand that you are having issue with your photos. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.
To answer to your concerns, can your photos be recovered? Yes, in most cases. Use all methods below, in this order.
- Check OneDrive Recycle Bin
This recover moved or deleted photos.
- Go to https://onedrive.live.com/
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account
- Click Recycle bin (left side)
- Look for:
gjh + catsfolder \Photos from the flash card - Select files > Restore
Restores them to their original location
- Restore your entire OneDrive to a previous time (UNDO BULK MOVES)
This is for accidental mass moves.
- OneDrive web > Settings
- Select Restore your OneDrive
- Choose Yesterday or Custom date
- Click Restore
Undoes moves, deletes, renames from last 30 days. For more information, please check at this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/restore-your-onedrive-fa231298-759d-41cf-bcd0-25ac53eb8a15
- Check original flash card
If you copied (not cut): Photos are still on the card
If you cut/move: Card recovery software may help (Windows cannot)
- Check Windows local folders
Sometimes files were synced, not moved.
Check:

C:\Users\YourName\Pictures -
C:\Users\YourName\OneDrive\Pictures
Why did Windows move photos to OneDrive?
This is normal Windows behavior.
- Windows redirected “Pictures” to OneDrive
- Happens when: OneDrive backup is ON You insert a camera/USB You import photos
“Pictures” looks local but is actually OneDrive.
