DWG is not a supported file format for Microsoft 365 Copilot file upload, which is why the upload fails with “file type is not supported,” even if Copilot’s prompt text suggests uploading that file.

Microsoft 365 Copilot supports specific document, image, and text formats (for example: .docx, .pdf, .xlsx, .pptx, .txt, etc.), but DWG is not listed among them. To work with the content of a DWG in Copilot, export or convert it to a supported format first, such as:

    • Export from AutoCAD/Visio to PDF, then upload the .pdf to Copilot.
    • Export relevant views or data to .docx or .pptx and upload those instead.

Once converted, upload the supported file type and use Copilot to summarize, extract information, or generate content based on that file.
