Linking a personal Microsoft account and a work/school account into a single account is not supported. They cannot be merged, even if they use similar or related email addresses.
Use the following approaches instead:
- Use both accounts side by side
- A Microsoft personal account and a work/school account must remain separate.
- They can be used together in products like Outlook, OneDrive, Windows, and Microsoft Edge without merging them:
- Add both accounts in Outlook and choose which address to send from.
- Sync work/school and personal files separately in OneDrive and copy files between them if needed.
- Add multiple accounts on the same Windows PC so each account has its own files and settings.
- Create separate profiles in Microsoft Edge and sign in with different accounts.
- Confirm the correct Learn profile for certifications
- Sign in to Microsoft Learn with each possible login (personal and work) and check the Certifications tab to see where each certification is stored.
- Certifications taken with the work email will remain associated with the Learn profile that used that work/school account.
- Renewing certifications
- Certification renewal is only possible during the 6‑month window before the certification’s expiration date.
- If a certification has already expired, it cannot be renewed and the renewal link will not be available; the exam must be retaken instead.
- If certifications are missing or need to be moved
- If expected certifications are not visible under the account being used, sign in with any other accounts that might have been used when registering for exams.
- If certifications are still missing or there are account/profile issues (such as needing help aligning records between work and personal profiles), open a case with Microsoft Credentials Support using the official support channel in the documentation.
Because merging the two accounts is not possible, the practical path is:
- Identify which certifications belong to which Learn profile.
- Use the correct account to access and download those certifications.
- Contact Credentials Support if assistance is needed to resolve profile or visibility issues.
