I currently subscribe to Microsoft 365 Family. However, my employer provides it to me. I no longer need to pay for my subscription since my employer provides it. My question is, if I do not renew my Office 365 Family, will I lose all my stored documents?

    Hello

So my understanding is, your employer paid one is on a different account, such as your work email, right?

Back to your personal account, how much OneDrive space do you use? If you use no more than 5GB, you have nothing to worry about.

But if you use more than 5GB, your files will become read-only when expired, and in 6 months, they will be permanently deleted. So it is best to transfer them out prior the expiration.

The good news is, you can run OneDrive side by side with a personal account, and a business account. Look for the OneDrive icon on taskbar, click on it > Settings > Accoutns, from here you can add another account.

Then you should have a Onedrive personal fodler and a OneDrive business folder in your File explorer. From there, you can just copy files out of the personal folder, place them in business folder.

Stored documents are not deleted when a Microsoft 365 Family subscription is not renewed, but subscription benefits change.

If the subscription expires and is not renewed:

    1. Files in OneDrive remain intact.
    2. The extra 1 TB OneDrive storage benefit is removed and storage reverts to the previous (free) quota.
    3. Access to fully functional desktop Office apps is lost; files can still be viewed and printed, but not edited or used to create new documents.

To keep editing and full features, sign in with the Microsoft 365 account provided by the employer once that subscription is active, and ensure important files are stored under that account or backed up elsewhere, especially if current OneDrive usage exceeds the free quota after Family expires.
