What service controls access to Office 2024 LTSC

Question

My Office 2024 LTSC apps don't allow me to access Help functions. I receive the attached pop-up when I click on Help, Contact Support, or Show Training.

I don't recall turning anything off, but would like to turn whatever it was back on.

I resolved the problems by making 2 changes.
Within any Office application select File > General > Privacy Settings
(1) turn on All connected experiences
(2) turn on Experiences that download online content
Restart Office

Office LTSC 2024 is a volume licensing product intended for organizations, not for individual consumers, and Microsoft does not sell it through normal retail channels. Unfortunately, some unauthorized resellers improperly market these organization-only licenses to end users, which often leads to activation, support, and feature issues because LTSC was never designed to be a consumer product.

In an organization, LTSC is typically deployed and managed by IT, and the organization can customize certain in-app experiences, including elements of the Help/support content, to fit their internal processes and tools. If you are not using a copy that is deployed and managed by an organization, those organization-managed features will not be available.

The message indicates that access to those Help features is being blocked by an organization-level policy, not by a local Windows service that can be restarted.

Office LTSC 2024 uses the same policy infrastructure as Office 2016/2019/2021 (major version 16.0). Feature availability is controlled by Group Policy settings stored under these registry paths:

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0

An administrator in the organization can use Group Policy (or another management tool) to restrict features such as Help, Contact Support, or Training. When such a restriction is in place, Office shows a message that the command isn’t available and that the administrator turned off the service required for the feature.

To re-enable these Help commands, the controlling Group Policy setting must be changed or removed by the organization’s IT administrator. End users cannot override this from within Office.

If this is believed to be in error or the feature is needed, the next step is to contact the internal IT/help desk and ask them to review the Office feature restriction policies applied to the device or account.
