I am using HPEnvy desktop with windows 11. PC updated and shut down Sat and can not reboot. The error just says start up maybe a corrupted file. I have run the uninstall both updates, still nothing. I checked for the windir, and added to C:\windows, nothing. I can’t even get to log in to try other options. Tried calling for tech support but everything goes to automation. How can I talk to someone for assistance??

    Hi,

If it's a laptop or desktop, if possible, could you provide the laptop model or your desktop configuration?

Can you access the WinRE screen and enter safe mode?

    Thanks

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the blank screen after the Windows 11 update and reach support if needed:

    1. Try the basic blank‑screen recovery shortcuts
      1. Make sure the PC and monitor are powered on and all cables are firmly connected.
      2. Press Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B once to reset the graphics driver. The screen should flicker or a beep may be heard.
      3. Press Windows logo key + P, then tap P once and press Enter to cycle display modes (PC screen only / Duplicate / Extend). Repeat this sequence a few times in case Windows is sending output to a non‑existent display.
      4. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del. If the security screen appears, select the power icon in the lower‑right corner and choose Restart.
    2. Force Windows into Recovery Environment
      1. Hold the power button for about 10–20 seconds to force shutdown.
      2. Turn the PC back on.
      3. As soon as the Windows logo or spinning dots appear, hold the power button again to force shutdown.
      4. Repeat this power‑on → interrupt cycle 2–3 times. Windows should then boot into Recovery Mode (Windows RE).
    3. From Recovery Mode, try Safe Mode
      1. In Windows RE, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
      2. After restart, press F5 to choose Safe Mode with Networking.
      3. If Safe Mode loads (even with low resolution), sign in and:
        • Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right‑click the graphics adapter, and choose Update driver or Roll back driver if the issue started after an update.
        • Restart normally and check if the blank screen is resolved.
    4. If still blank, use System Restore
      1. Boot back into Windows RE as above.
      2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
      3. Choose a restore point from before the problematic update and follow the wizard.
    5. If the screen is blank but shows a cursor
      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager (if visible).
      2. In Task Manager, locate Windows Explorer, right‑click it, and select Restart.
      3. If Windows Explorer is not listed, select File > Run new task, type explorer.exe, and press Enter.
    6. If Windows restarts with black/blue screen stop codes
      1. Remove any newly added hardware and try booting again.
      2. From Safe Mode (via Windows RE), open Device Manager and update or temporarily disable devices with a yellow exclamation mark.
      3. Ensure there is sufficient free space on the system drive (ideally 10–15% free) when able to sign in.
      4. If the problem persists, use System Restore or other recovery options from Recovery Mode.
    7. Contacting Microsoft support If none of the above resolves the issue, use another device to access Microsoft support and request a callback or chat session. Provide details: HP Envy desktop, Windows 11, blank screen after update, cannot reach sign‑in screen, and that uninstalling recent updates did not help.
