Missing Benefit – No Notice Provided for Removal of 60 Minutes Skype Calling

I am contacting you because the 60 minutes of monthly Skype calling included with my Microsoft 365 subscription is no longer working, and I did not receive any direct notice from Microsoft about this benefit ending.

I understand that Microsoft has announced publicly that Skype is being retired and that the 60‑minute calling benefit would end on March 3, 2026. However, after checking my Microsoft 365 account thoroughly, I found no email, message, or notification sent to me informing me of this change in advance.

This means:

  • I paid for a subscription tier that explicitly included this benefit.
  • The benefit was removed during my active subscription period.
  • I was not personally notified through my Microsoft 365 account.
  • As a customer, I’ve now lost part of what I paid for without being informed.

I’m requesting one of the following:

  1. A partial refund,
  2. An account credit, or
  3. A subscription adjustment that reflects the loss of this benefit.

Please review my account and advise on the best resolution. Thank you for your assistance—your help is appreciated.

Kind regards

Jeanne

    Hi Jeanne Wu

Thank you for sharing your concerns in detail.

Regarding the 60 minutes of monthly Skype calling, Microsoft has already publicly announced that Skype is being retired, along with related consumer calling benefits. You can find the official announcement here: Skype is retiring in May 2025: What you need to know

As part of this transition, Microsoft is encouraging customers to move to Microsoft Teams (Free), which offers many of the same core features previously available in Skype, including calling capabilities.

In addition, when you use Teams Free, or Teams included with your Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, you will continue to receive benefits that are outlined here: Learn more about subscriptions for Microsoft Teams Free

If you already have an active Microsoft 365 subscription, the Teams app included in that subscription automatically applies those Teams-related benefits, so you are not losing access to communication features; they are being transitioned to a newer platform.

I hope this clarification helps explain the change and the available alternatives. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
