I can't find my login details for recently purchased Microsoft Essentials

I purchased microsoft team essentials, added a domain name, and received confirmation of my purchase in my personal email that the purchase was successful. However, I can't locate any licences and don't know how I log in to see my purchases. I know it seems silly, but did I create another profile and how do I access my details?

    Dear @Neville P,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I completely understand how confusing it is to purchase a subscription and then feel like it has disappeared. Please don't feel silly this is a very common scenario when transitioning from a personal email to a business service like Teams Essentials.

When you purchase a business subscription and add a domain, Microsoft creates a new business identity (tenant) that is separate from your personal profile.

Here is the step-by-step guide to locating your login details and licenses:

Step 1: Identify Your New Admin Account

Check your personal email for a "Get started with Microsoft 365" message. Since you added a domain, Microsoft likely created an administrator account for you. It usually follows this format: ******@yourdomain.com or ******@yourdomain.onmicrosoft.com

Step 2: Sign In via the Correct Portal

Your purchase will not show up on the personal Microsoft account page. You must use the Microsoft 365 Admin Center:

Tip: Use an Incognito/InPrivate browser window to ensure you aren't automatically signed in with your personal email.

Step 3: Verify and Assign Your License

Once signed in to the Admin Center, you can verify your purchase:

    • Check Subscription: Go to Billing > Your products. You should see "Microsoft Teams Essentials" listed.
    • Check Assignment: Go to Users > Active users. Ensure the license is assigned to your account. If it isn't, select your name and click the Licenses and apps tab to assign it.

Step 4: If You Are Still Locked Out

If you cannot find the username or the login fails, the Microsoft Data Protection/Billing Team can help recover it by verifying your credit card details or the order ID from your confirmation email.

I hope this helps you access your account immediately.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please let me know how it goes after trying the steps above. I’m here to help further if needed.

For Teams Essentials, the sign-in account is the email address used during purchase, and all licenses are managed through that same account in the Microsoft admin center.

To get back to your details and licenses, follow these steps:

    1. Confirm which email was used to buy Teams Essentials
      • Open the purchase confirmation email in the personal mailbox where it was received.
      • Check the “to” address and any mention of the account used. That email address is the sign-in ID for Teams Essentials.
    2. Sign in with that email to manage Teams Essentials
      • Go to the Microsoft 365 / Microsoft account portal (for business subscriptions) and sign in using the same email address and password used during purchase.
      • If prompted, complete any sign-up steps (for example, setting a password if this was the first time using that email with Microsoft).
    3. Verify the subscription and licenses
      • After signing in, open the Microsoft admin center from the same account.
      • In the admin center, look for the Teams Essentials subscription and its user licenses.
      • Assign the Teams Essentials seats to users as needed. All users must be in the same domain (for example, ******@yourdomain.com).
    4. If sign-in fails or the account is unclear
      • If the portal does not recognize the email or password, use the Microsoft account recovery options (reset password or look up the account) for that email.
      • If still unable to locate the subscription or licenses after signing in with the email from the confirmation message, contact Microsoft Support from that signed-in account so they can check the subscription status.

This scenario does not create a separate “hidden” profile; the key is to sign in with the exact email address used at purchase and then manage Teams Essentials through the admin center.
