How do I add a new laptop to my microsoft account under "devices"?

Hello,

To register your laptop with your Microsoft account, you need to sign in to that laptop using your Microsoft account, receive the security code, and enter it to complete identity verification.

If it does not work, try switching to a local account once, then switch back to your Microsoft account and complete the verification again.

In some cases, the device appears immediately under your Microsoft account, while in other cases it may take one to two days before it is reflected.

However, there has been a long‑standing issue where some devices do not register correctly even after completing all steps.

Please wait a few days, and if the device still does not appear, submit feedback using the option in the lower-right corner.

To add a new Windows laptop to a Microsoft account so it appears under Devices, sign in on that laptop with the Microsoft account. Windows 10/11 devices are added automatically when signed in.

If it does not appear automatically or for Surface devices that need manual registration:

1. On any device, go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices and sign in with the same Microsoft account used on the laptop.
2. Select Register device.
3. Enter the laptop’s (or Surface’s) serial number to register it.

Notes:

• If the PC is managed or owned by a company or organization, it should not be registered to a personal Microsoft account and should not be renamed.
• macOS, Android, and iOS devices cannot be added to the Microsoft account Devices list at this time.
