where is the start button to shutdown PC ? I cannot find this

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I know this can be frustrating when the Start menu or taskbar isn’t responding properly.

First, just to orient you: on Windows 11, the Start button is the Windows logo (four small squares) on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. By default, it’s centered on the taskbar, just to the left of the Search box. Clicking it opens the Start menu, where you can select the Power icon and then choose Shut down.

If the Start menu isn’t opening or feels unresponsive, a quick and safe thing to try is restarting Windows Explorer, which controls the taskbar and Start menu. To do this, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. In the list of running processes, look for Windows Explorer, click on it, and choose Restart. Your taskbar may briefly disappear and then come back, that’s normal and usually means it’s refreshed successfully.

If you still can’t access the Start menu after that, you can shut down the device another way. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then select the Power icon in the lower‑right corner of the screen and choose Shut down. This method works even when the Start menu isn’t responding.

In Windows 11, the Start button is the Windows icon on the taskbar, usually at the center bottom of the screen.

To shut down the PC:

1. Click the Start button (Windows icon) on the taskbar.
2. Select the Power button.
3. Select Shut down.
