How to get an payment extension on OneDrive

Question

How to get an extension on a slight overdue payment. For one drive,My pay has been delayed and now I’m getting emails stating all my photos and files will be deleted ☹️ I’m able to sort this Tuesday coming. Please assist, as I have tried ringing them but not getting a real person. Frustrating.

May I please know how long your payment has been overdue?

If your OneDrive storage is full and you haven’t upgraded, you will not be able to upload, edit, or sync new files to OneDrive.

Also, if you haven’t upgraded for more than 6 months, your files may be deleted. Please check the email you received to see the exact date when your data may be deleted.

OneDrive and Microsoft storage subscriptions do not offer formal “payment extensions,” but there are a few concrete steps that can protect files and resolve the overdue status.

1. Confirm why the “files will be erased” message was sent
   • The message appears if:
     • OneDrive hasn’t been used in two years, and/or
     • The storage limit has been exceeded.
   • Details: Why did I get a message saying my files will be erased?
2. Reactivate the account before the deadline
   • Sign in to OneDrive before the date shown in the email/notification to stop files from being erased: Sign in.
   • After signing in, check that the storage limit is not exceeded.
3. Handle the overdue subscription payment
   • If the subscription is past due because a payment failed:
     1. Go to Services & subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account used for OneDrive.
     2. Find the past-due subscription and select Pay now.
     3. Update or add a payment method if needed, then complete the payment.

4. If storage or quota hasn’t updated after payment
   • It can take up to 24 hours for storage allowances to update after purchasing more storage or a subscription.
   • If the account was locked, it can take up to 2 hours after purchasing additional storage for the new quota to show. If it still hasn’t updated after 4 hours, contact support using the link in the article: What is Microsoft cloud storage?
5. If sign-in or account selection is a problem
   • If a message appears saying the email is used with more than one Microsoft account, choose the correct personal account (not the work/school account) when signing in.
