I wanted to create an additional email address under my Microsoft account, next to the primary existing one. Then I tried to add it this new email address on Outlook on Mac as well as on Apple email and it doesn't work. Spent almost an hour chating with an agent who told me to seek Outlook support. And here what I get: User's image

    Hello

The issue is a bit unclear.. I hope you don't mind that we spend a bit time sorting out the context first.

When you add another alias in the same Microsoft account, those email addresses refer to the same mail box/account. Is that what you want though?

    Or

Do you actually want two separate email accounts with their own mail boxes?

The additional email address created under a Microsoft account is an alias, not a separate mailbox. An alias shares the same inbox, contacts, and settings as the primary address and uses the same password. It cannot be added as a separate account in Outlook for Mac or Apple Mail because there is only one underlying mailbox.

    To use the new address:

    1. Keep it as an alias on the same Microsoft account.
    2. Continue to add and use the Microsoft account itself (the primary mailbox) in Outlook for Mac or Apple Mail.
    3. When sending mail from Outlook.com or supported Outlook clients, choose which alias to send from, but all mail will still arrive in the same inbox.

If a completely separate mailbox is required, a new Microsoft account with its own Outlook.com address must be created instead of adding an alias.
