    Hi Murali daran,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that after the recent Windows update on 07/03/26, your screen goes black whenever you launch a game, and you are unable to roll back the update, which is preventing you from playing games.

Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, please try the following.

Before we proceed, I would like to narrow this down a bit:

    1. Does the black screen happen only when launching games, or also when running other graphics‑intensive apps?
    2. Are you using a dedicated GPU (such as NVIDIA or AMD), or integrated graphics?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Disable fullscreen optimizations for the affected games

    • Right‑click the game executable
    • Select Properties
    • Go to the Compatibility tab
    • Check Disable fullscreen optimizations and apply the change

2, Check display refresh rate compatibility

    • Open Settings
    • Go to System, then Display
    • Select Advanced display
    • Temporarily set the refresh rate to 60 Hz and test the game

3, Perform a clean boot to rule out background conflicts

    • Open System Configuration
    • Disable all non‑Microsoft services
    • Restart the device and test launching a game

    4, Reset game‑specific graphics settings

    • Launch the game and reset graphics settings to default
    • If the game does not open, delete or rename its local configuration folder under Documents or AppData

5, Install the latest optional Windows updates

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Windows Update
    • Select Advanced options, then Optional updates
    • Install any available driver or reliability updates

If you are unable to uninstall the update that may have caused the problem, the best option is to open the Settings App.

    Go to System - Recovery.

Click the 'Reinstall Now' button in the 'Fix problems with Windows Updates' section and wait for that process to complete, this process does not affect your files, settings or installed apps.

If that does not resolve the problem, go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and re-install (not update) the version of Graphics drivers they provide.
