    Hi, I'm John!

When you say the laptop is registered in Microsoft Store, do you mean it already shows under your Microsoft account devices here: https://account.microsoft.com/devices?

Also, if you are trying to manually add the laptop using the "Add device" option on that page, that feature is mainly for Microsoft Surface and other Microsoft products like Xbox. Most third-party laptops (such as Lenovo) cannot be manually added there.

Normally, a Windows laptop will automatically appear in your device list once you sign in with your Microsoft account on the device.

To help narrow down the issue:

    1. What exactly happens when you try to add the Lenovo laptop? Do you get an error message?
    2. Is your Microsoft account already signed in on the laptop under Settings > Accounts?
    3. Does the laptop already appear in your device list but you are trying to register it again?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

Windows 10/11 PCs that are signed in with a Microsoft account are added to the Microsoft account device list automatically; there is no separate “Store-only” registration for a laptop.

    Key points for this scenario:

    1. How Windows devices are added
      • When signing in to Windows 10/11 with a Microsoft account, the device is automatically added under that account at https://account.microsoft.com/devices.
      • Surface devices can also be added manually by selecting Register device on that page and entering the device serial number.
    2. Why a laptop might not appear as expected
      • If the Lenovo laptop is managed or owned by an organization (work/school), it cannot be registered to a personal Microsoft account and should not be renamed.
      • macOS, Android, and iOS devices cannot be added at all, but Windows 10/11 laptops are supported.
      • If the device is already associated with another Microsoft account, it cannot be added again under a different account.
    3. What to check and do
      1. On the Lenovo laptop, confirm that Windows is signed in with the same Microsoft account used for Microsoft Store.
      2. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices and sign in with that same account.
      3. Look for the Lenovo laptop in the list. If there are multiple PCs, rename the device in Windows so it is easier to identify:
        • Open Settings in Windows.
        • Select Rename this PC, enter a new name, select Next, then Restart now or Restart later.
      4. If the device appears but is at the 10-device limit for Store content, remove devices that are no longer used:
      5. If the laptop is company-managed and prompts to let an organization manage the device, decline that for a personal device; otherwise it may be tied to the organization instead of the personal account.

If the Lenovo laptop is already visible under Devices for the Microsoft account, no additional registration in Microsoft Store is required; apps and games can be installed to it directly from Microsoft Store.
