I purchased Office Home & business 2019 for Mac and installed. 1 Week ago I purchased 2024 Office Home & Business for Mac. I have tried to run the Unistaller and when I activate my account it keeps going to 2019 instead of the new 2024 that I did register my Product Key for. When I log in to my Microsoft Account the 2024 Subscription is showing but I can not figure out how to get the subscription to activate on my system when I login.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Try removing previous Office licenses on your Mac using the 'Office License Removal Tool' and then reactivate your 2024 Office Home & Business edition.

You can download the Office License Removal Tool from the official Microsoft website here:

How to remove Office license files on a Mac

When you sign in, you’ll be prompted to choose which version of Office you want to activate. Select Office Home & Business 2024.

If you are still having issues, let us know.

To switch the Mac from Office Home & Business 2019 for Mac to Office Home & Business 2024 for Mac, the old 2019 license must be removed and the apps reactivated with the account that now owns the 2024 license.

    Use these steps:

    1. Confirm the 2024 license is redeemed to the correct Microsoft account
      • Go to the Microsoft dashboard.
      • Open the Subscription page.
      • Verify that Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024 appears under Products you've purchased and that this is the same account being used to sign in on the Mac.
    2. Remove the old Office 2019 for Mac license
      • Download and run the License Removal Tool for Office 2019 for Mac as described under Office 2019 for Mac license.
      • This removes the 2019 license information but does not remove the Office apps.
    3. Start an Office app and sign in with the 2024 account
      • Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint on the Mac.
      • When prompted to sign in or activate, use the same Microsoft account that shows Office Home & Business 2024 for Mac on the services page.
      • Activation should now attach to the 2024 license instead of 2019.
    4. Make sure the correct apps are installed
      • If activation still shows 2019, uninstall Office completely and reinstall using the instructions in Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac.
      • After reinstalling, sign in again with the account that owns Office Home & Business 2024.

If the Mac apps were installed from the Mac App Store, remove those and install Office directly from Microsoft, because one-time Office licenses such as Office Home & Business are not compatible with Mac App Store builds.
