    Hi Todd Ewing

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.

To better understand your situation, could you please share some information:

    • Are you able to sign in and send email via Outlook on the Web?
    • What is the specific error code you are seeing?

In the meantime, you can try these steps first to see if they help Outlook establish a connection.

    Check the 'Work Offline' status:

Go to the Send/Receive tab and ensure the Work Offline button is not highlighted. If it is, click it to reconnect.

    Create a new Outlook Profile:

Sometime corrupted data files often cause connection errors; you can try to Create an Outlook profile.

I hope this information is helpful, and I look forward to your response.

Use the following steps in classic Outlook for Windows:

    1. Check Outlook’s connection state
      • Look at the status bar at the bottom of the Outlook window.
      • If it shows Disconnected, Working Offline, or Trying to connect…, Outlook is not talking to the mail server.
      • Go to the Send/Receive tab on the ribbon.
      • In the Preferences group, select Work Offline once to toggle back online.
      • Then select Send/Receive or open and resend any messages stuck in the Outbox.
    2. Confirm Windows actually has internet access
      • Open Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
      • Browse to http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.bing.com.
      • If these sites do not load, fix the Windows network first using the steps in Fix network connection issues in Windows (linked in the article) and then return to Outlook.
    3. Check for large or stuck messages
      • In Outlook, open the Outbox folder.
      • If there are messages with large attachments (for example, over 20 MB), open the oldest one, remove or reduce the attachment, or replace it with a link, then send again.
    4. If issues persist, repair the Outlook data file
      • Classic Outlook often stores data in a .pst file.
      • Run the Inbox Repair Tool (ScanPST) as described in Repair your Outlook personal folders file (.pst) from the referenced article, then restart Outlook and test send/receive again.

If the error persists after these steps, collect the exact error code/text from Outlook’s Send/Receive status and follow the troubleshooting in the “Error list” section of the Inbox Repair Tool article.
