Add Rupee symbol (₹) to SwiftKey for all Indian Language layouts

Just to clarify, this isn't a repeat question. The Rupee symbol is currently missing from the QWERTY layouts of Microsoft Swiftkey Keyboard Android app, for both English (India) and Hinglish.

It is a major inconvenience to have to go to Google and copy-paste the symbol every time I need it.

The Rupee symbol (₹) is needed in daily use, every time we need to specify amount and not having it in the keyboard is a big inconvenience.

Kindly add it to keyboard for all Indian languages (from English US, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, etc) to make typing easier for us.

    Hello Mnn,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how inconvenience it could be when a daily use symbol is not available on the specific keyboard for the language, so thank you for the suggestion.

As helpful as the suggestion could be, this might not be the correct page to submit it. This is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas. In this case, Microsoft does provide users with a channel so they can directly submit their ideas or suggestions with the Windows engineering team, which is the Feedback Hub apps. This is available by default on every Windows computer; you can go and submit your ideas there so they can know about it and decide to implement the idea on a future update. Thank you for your understanding.

The Rupee symbol (₹) is not mentioned as a configurable or toggleable key in the available Microsoft SwiftKey documentation. The context only describes how to:

    • Change or configure language packs and layouts (QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY, Colemak, Dvorak) for supported languages.
    • Switch layouts and languages from the SwiftKey app or from the Toolbar.
    • Insert accented characters via long‑press on keys.

There is no documented option to add or remap a dedicated Rupee key across Indian language layouts in SwiftKey for Android.

To work within the documented capabilities:

    1. Ensure the relevant Indian language packs (e.g., English (India), Hindi, etc.) are downloaded and enabled:
      • Open the Microsoft SwiftKey app → “Languages”.
      • Download and enable the desired Indian languages.
    2. Check if any layout variant exposes the symbol via long‑press:
      • In the same “Languages” screen, tap the language and cycle through the available layouts (QWERTY, etc.).
      • After selecting a layout, on the keyboard try long‑pressing relevant keys (for example, number or currency keys) to see if ₹ appears as a long‑press option.
    3. If the symbol is still not available, this becomes a product feature gap rather than a configuration issue. The available documentation does not provide a way to add a new dedicated key or custom symbol to all Indian layouts.

For feature requests or to report this as a usability issue, use the Microsoft SwiftKey support/contact channel referenced in the documentation so it can be tracked as feedback by the product team.
