    Hi m anas,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand you are experiencing a blank screen when opening Windows Security or Windows Update Security on your Windows 10 Home device.

Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, please try the following.

Before proceeding, I would like to narrow this down a bit:

1, Does the blank screen appear only when opening Windows Security, or does it also happen when opening other Settings pages

2, Are you currently signed in using a Microsoft account or a local account on this device

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Restart Windows Security related services

    • Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
    • Locate Security Center and Windows Security Service
    • Make sure both services are set to Running and Startup type is Automatic

2, Repair Windows Security app from Settings

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Apps
    • Select Apps and features
    • Locate Windows Security
    • Select Advanced options
    • Click Repair, then restart the device

    3, Run system file check

    • Open Start
    • Type cmd
    • Right‑click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
    • Run the following command and wait for completion sfc /scannow

4, Repair Windows image using DISM

    • In the same elevated Command Prompt, run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • Restart the device after the command completes

5, Check for pending Windows updates

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Update & Security
    • Select Windows Update
    • Install all available updates, then restart the device

6, Create a new local test account

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Accounts
    • Select Family & other users
    • Add a new local user
    • Sign in with the new account and check whether Windows Security still shows a blank screen

Click your Start Button, then just type Powershell and on the resulting list, right click PowerShell and select 'Run as Administrator'.

Paste this command into Powershell and press Enter:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender" /f; Set-MpPreference -UILockdown 0

Paste this command into Powershell and press Enter:

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

When that completes, paste this command into Powershell and press Enter:

    Add-AppxPackage -Register -DisableDevelopmentMode "C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI_cw5n1h2txyewy\AppXManifest.xml"

Close PowerShell and restart (not shut down) your PC

Follow these steps to troubleshoot a blank/black screen related to Windows (including after updates or when opening security settings):

    1. Wake or reset the display
    • Press Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver. The screen should flicker or a beep may be heard.
    • Press Ctrl + Alt + Del. If the security options screen appears, the system is running and only the shell/display is stuck.
    • Press Windows logo key + P, tap P once, then press Enter to switch display modes (PC screen only / Duplicate / Extend). Repeat a few times in case Windows is sending output to a non‑existent display.
    1. Basic checks
    • Make sure the PC is powered on and the battery/charger is OK.
    • If using an external monitor, confirm the cable is firmly connected and the monitor is powered on. Try another cable or monitor if possible.
    1. If the screen is blank but a cursor is visible
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    • In Task Manager, locate Windows Explorer, right‑click it, and select Restart.
    • If Windows Explorer is missing, select File > Run new task, type explorer.exe, and press Enter.
    1. If the screen stays blank (possibly after an update) Boot into Safe Mode and repair drivers/updates:
    2. Force shutdown by holding the power button for about 10 seconds.
    3. Turn the PC back on and, as soon as Windows starts loading, hold the power button again to force it off.
    4. Repeat this 2–3 times until Automatic Repair / Recovery Mode appears.
    5. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
    6. Press F5 to choose Safe Mode with Networking.

    In Safe Mode:

    • Open Device Manager → expand Display adapters → right‑click the graphics adapter → choose Update driver.
    • If the blank screen started right after a driver or Windows Update, open the adapter’s PropertiesDriver tab → select Roll Back Driver (if available).
    1. Use System Restore if the problem started recently
    2. From Safe Mode or Recovery Mode, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    3. Choose a restore point from before the blank‑screen issue started and complete the wizard.

If the issue is specifically a black/blank lock or sign‑in screen that does not respond to keyboard or swipe actions (on older Windows 10 builds), install all available Windows Updates so that the fix for that lock‑screen deadlock is applied, then restart the PC.

If none of these steps change the behavior, further repair (such as a reset or clean install) may be required, but that is beyond the information provided here.
